And no, it is not the capital of Brasil. Try a little bit closer to the end of the Earth. Now you understand the nature of this particular student’s angle.
Argentina has several public universities and lots of private ones. In this country public means free, you don’t have to pay a cent. It also means prestigious. Even though the ceilings fall on our heads and the gas and electricity supplies are not assured.
Still, our Nobel Prize awardees (Houssay, Leloir and Milstein) graduated from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). That is why we still fight for our public education and won’t give up.
